Text Neck
As the end of the school year is approaching, be cautious that extra time spent on a screen may have a detrimental effect on your children’s health, as well as, your own. “Text neck” describes damage or pain caused by your head being too far forward from looking at a cell phone, tablet, computer, etc. The symptoms of text neck include back pain, pain in the neck and shoulders, and/ or pinched nerves. If not treated over time, text neck can cause changes to the natural curvature that is supposed to be in your spine. You can prevent text neck by keeping devices at an eye level and taking frequent breaks to stretch.
